Shua Privacy Policy

Shua ("we," "our," "the app") is a Mandarin-learning app. This page explains what information we collect when you use Shua, why we collect it, and how you can have it deleted.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, and an optional display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's email and profile name instead of asking you to set a password.
• Learning activity: words you save, decks you create, which clips you watch and for how long, your daily streak, and which achievements you've unlocked. This is what powers your vocabulary bank, review queue, and progress stats.
• Subscription status: if you purchase Shua Pro, Apple's App Store handles your payment directly — we never see or store your card details. Our server only records whether your subscription is currently active, which product you bought, and when it renews or expires, verified directly against Apple's own records.
• Push notification token: only if you enable notifications, so we can send you reminders.
• Feedback you submit: if you use the in-app feedback form, we store what you wrote. If you check the box allowing us to follow up, we may email you about it using the address on your account.

How we use this information

We use it to operate the app itself: showing you your saved words, tracking your streak and daily goal, running your subscription, and improving the app based on feedback and aggregate usage patterns. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Third parties involved

• Apple — processes payments and verifies subscription status (App Store / StoreKit).
• Google — if you choose to sign in with Google, authenticates your identity.
• YouTube — clips in the app are played through YouTube's own embedded video player, which is subject to Google's privacy policy for the video-playback portion of your session.
• Our servers are hosted with a standard cloud infrastructure provider, which stores the data described above on our behalf.

Data retention and deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. This immediately and permanently removes your account, saved words, decks, watch history, achievements, and feedback from our systems. This action cannot be undone.

Children's privacy

Shua is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
